10-18-2013 TN Valley Forecast A vigorous upper-air disturbance coupled with a strong Fall cold front would in any almost any other circumstance give us rain and thunderstorms; this time around, we may get by with only a few isolated showers. Spotty and generally light showers are possible on Saturday; however, dont expect an all-day rain event. Just have an umbrella nearby in case a quick showers moves overhead. Frost Advisory on Sunday Morning: Much of Middle Tennessee is under a Frost Advisory for Sunday morning. The latest guidance suggests temperatures as cold as 31 to 39 degrees (yes, that is a wide range) from Middle Tennessee south into the northern quarter of Alabama by sunrise Sunday. A light wind may prevent frost for most of the Tennessee Valley; however, there will be at least some patchy frost Sunday morning as far south as Russellville, Valley Head and New Market. Sunday afternoon looks pretty! Expect a lot of sunshine with a high in the mid-60s and a light east-northeast breeze. Getting Colder Soon! A peek at the long-range model guidance gives more confidence day-by-day that next week is going to get quite a bit colder. Monday is the warmest day of the week with a high at 70 degrees; after that, a strong cold front marches through here dropping highs to the mid-50s on Wednesday and giving us the chance of frost and/or a light freeze on Thursday and Friday mornings. Could some near-record lows be in the mix here? Its not exactly likely, but it is not impossible. Huntsville has not set a cold season record low since 1996; if the air coming in here in about 8 to 10 days is as cold as the model guidance suggests, we will have a hard freeze before Halloween.
