11/28/14 Daniel 5:2 KJV [2] Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein. I am thankful to my pastor who has given me the liberty to venture away from my home church in order to visit others and share the gospel of Christ. Recently was one such occasion and I ministered to a congregation in a neighboring city. Later in the week, I saw a brother who attended that church service. He asked me if I heard what it happened? I thought there were some folks in the service who during the course of the week, being under conviction, had surrendered their lives to Christ. He proceeded to tell me that someone(s) had broken into the church between Sunday night and Wednesday night and had stolen the electronic and musical instruments. The total disregard and the casual attitude of individuals toward the house of God and the things that are sanctified for use in the house God is appalling. The fear of God and respect for his house and the things that are sanctified have been lost. When I was a kid I did a lot of stupid, immature things. Vandalizing and disrespecting the church, its buildings, and its properties was something I was scared even think about. I blame this lack of respect on the limp-wristed , spineless, shifty, 6 foot tall icicle that stands behind the sacred desk every Sunday. Would to God that we would again preach hell so hot that sinners can feel the heat. I know that God is a God of love, but neighbor, he is also a God of judgement. It begins with small changes they are barely noticeable. Things are done to make our church more user friendly and politically correct. Some may say that we strain at a gnat and swallow a camel, but I want to go on the record as saying that I worship God in his sanctuary (though God can be worshiped anywhere - storefront, barn lot, under a tent, in the open air... IT IS STILL A SANCTUARY). What gives us the authority and privilege to change something so it does not sound so religious and churchy? Since when is it okay to take a regular service dedicated preaching the gospel, teaching the word, or having a prayer gathering and replace it with something that is so worldly that if it were rated by Hollywoods system... It would be for restricted audiences only or have parental guidance - no one under the age of 13? The hand writing is on the wall. Judgement must begin at the house of God. If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall be ungodly and the sinner appear? Revelation 3:2 KJV [2] Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Heavenly Father, these devotionals are meant to be a blessing and encouragement. When I write the things like todays meditation, the flesh part of me wonders and doubts if I should print a retraction... but I believe there are supporters of the gospel that read these devotions that would have to say a hearty amen to its contents. We are not here to find fault, nor are we trying to legislate morality... but if we dont say something about the hemline, the skirts are going to get shorter and shorters until they will be up above the belly button. Shake us, wake up, bring us back and show us the way thats proven over and over to be correct. Restore the respect and fear of God in our lives, in Jesus name, amen.
