#11820 - I am perfectly fine with a difficult final. But dont say things wont be on the exam and then put them on the exam. She gave us a list of terms to study, which I memorized. She said that would be all that was on the test, but I decided to go through the rest of the course to make sure I was comfortable with all the major concepts. Basically anything she or the textbook mentioned more than once I knew well. Almost none of that was on the final. 1 or 2 things from the list of terms, and none of the major concepts. Most of it was minor details from a guest lecture and did not at all cover the entire course. 25/30 questions were on two topics that werent even in the textbook, which were the ones she was most comfortable with. It didnt test whether we had understood the course, it tested how good we were at remembering tiny details from one week of class. I wish more profs could make finals that tested what we actually learned, not our ability to remember trivia. I know its hard to test learning in general, but it really sucks for students that did understand the concepts of the course and whose grades wont reflect that. (also like why bother taking the time to make a list of terms and then not use it when making the exam?)
