14 Dec, 2014 - The Christmas cheer. Im finally getting seduced by that Christmas thing again. No, I still wont be buying presents or cards, or special food this year, yet again. Its no longer what I need to do. I might get the plastic tree out of the attic though - I can no longer get a tree cut for this either. With all the rolling-coasting of the last few years, its been some time since I had a Christmas tree too - the young man and I agreed some time back that we didnt need one either; I reckon that was a teenage ploy from him to have to do less though. And I am feeling the need to rekindle the joy of putting my Christmas decorations on a tree - and no, you wont have a picture of it here either, although I know it will look amazing to me, as it always does. So, maybe today is about a Christmas tree in my (now) spacious lounge - the de-cluttering is already bearing its fruits. And theres another new, emerging Christmas ritual: my sister and I spend a long weekend somewhere new just before Christmas. I call it my Christmas treat. Last year, we went to Copenhagen. This year, its one of those places on my bucket list: I have always wished to go to Vienna to see the Klimt, Kokoschka and Schiele I have yet not seen - and I have seen quite a few from the many art museums I have been blessed to come by in the Western world over the years. Many have forgotten that romanticism has many of its roots in Austria, I never have. I love romantic stuff. And the idea of wandering the Christmas markets in Vienna with a glass of Gluehwein with my sister really appeals to me - my rowing coach told me yesterday there were 28 of them... And as they say, some wishes eventually come true. Often, when we plan the least for them. Just like joy. Thats coming back too. The Christmas cheer.
