17,000 tonnes has been transported through Chipata-Mchinji railway line since commissioning of Zambia Railways operations last May, generating revenue of K720,000. Nacala director Vyonsi Manda says business communities from Malawi and Mozambique have been instrumental in using the railway transport. “Last month, we transported 13,871 tonnes of goods mainly for Malawian and Mozambican business community,” he said. Mr Manda, however, urged the Zambian business community to take advantage of the transport facility to haul bulk cargo through Nacala corridor. He said 30 wagons and one locomotive will be secured by the end of this month. This will bring the number to 81 wagons and three locomotives. A total of 100 wagons are also expected to be dispatched to Chipata-Mchinji railway station by the end of the year. daily-mail.co.zm/index.php/business/item/6494-zrl-earns-k720000-from-cargo-haulage
