18 July, 2014 For Immediate Release GBM Stands With the Rakyat in this National Grief Gabungan Bertindak Malaysia (GBM), the Malaysian multi-racial, multi-religious and multilingual movement, is shocked beyond belief that within a space of about six months our beloved nation and its people have been traumatised by two major tragedies, the disappearance of MH370 and the shooting down of MH17, resulting in the death of scores of our Malaysians sisters and brothers along with fellow citizens of other countries. At this hour of National Grief with our National Flag flying at half mast, we, the members of GBM, bow our heads in sorrow, lift our hands in prayers and share the pains of the families who have lost their dear ones. GBM most respectfully convey our heartfelt condolences to each and every one of the families affected by this tragedy. GBM is cognizant of the assurances given by the Honourable Prime Minister last night that his government would do the needful, including an emergency session of the Parliament, to address all aspects of the tragedy. GBM humbly calls upon all the rakyat of Malaysia to respectfully empathise with this moment of national grief and to stand together as one nation, casting aside our differences. May the souls of the deceased rest in peace and may the friends and families of the departed be blessed with patience and perseverance in their hour of need.
