2:41p.m.: Tony Mack is someone who had to overcome a lot, Davis said. He noted that at a young age he became a rock for his family and helped those in his family. After working hard and doing what he needed to do to support his family, he ran for mayor, Davis said. He said he ran for mayor because he loved Trenton and this was his opportunity to give back. It wasnt motivated by ill gotten gains or profits, Davis said. 2:45 p.m.: Davis said he submitted to the court a letter from an alternate juror who said she disagreed with the verdict from the other jurors. She couldnt believe they were watching the same trial, Davis said. It is beyond belief that we are standign here today at a sentencing hearing. 2:50 p.m.: Davis said that Mack is already feeling the consequences of his actions. He has had to relocate, Davis said. He does not even live in the area and his family--he has trouble even looking his family in the eye. Davis said that the deterrent for public officials is not a lengthy jail sentence but being exposed and stripped of their office and good name. After this is all over, he will probably never be able to find an actual career again, Davis said. That has been stripped from him. Everything he has is gone. 2:53 p.m.: Davis asks for judge to impose same sentence as fmr Hamilton Mayor John Bencivengo-- 36 months. 2:55 p.m.: Mack refuses his right to address the court on his own behalf. 2:57 p.m.: Mack sentenced 58 months in jail followed by 3 years of supervised release. 3:00p.m.: Mack will have 100 hours of community service to be completed in the six months after his release. 3:31p.m.: Ralphiel Mack, Tonys brother will be sentenced next. Ralphiel was found guilty of accepting bribe money on behalf of his brother. 3:36 p.m.: Ralphiel Macks attorney Robert Haney argues that his client was only convicted as a courier. There is no evidence that my client was involved in any way with the project, Haney said. This is a sting operation, this is not a real, discovered crime, he said.
