20 years ago a young girl gave birth to a tiny, little boy . His parents had no idea what they were doing but as they look back they are proud of the young man he has become. Hold on because life in your 20’s is a time when things always change: In my 20’s I graduated from college. I got married. I had my three kids. I moved to another state away from all family. I lived in my first apartment, then duplex, then bought our first house. I learned the image that I had for my life while growing up may not be the same idea God had in mind. I slowly learned to solve my own problems that came my way instead of calling Mom and Dad first, yet always (still do) seek my parents advise on big things. Bought my first car without my parent’s assistance. Learned how to fix things that broke around the house or how to call in a service person to do it. Learned how to stretch a dollar to make it last. Was broke most of my 20’s yet the hard work in my 20’s paid off in my 30’s and 40’s. Made unwise choices with money that cost me the next 10 years to pay off. Got angry with God when things did not turn out my way. Came back to God after I learned he was my Rock during this season of ever changing life. The winds of change always blew but God stood firmly right beside me, waiting for me to reach my hand out to Him. I learned how to become a Mother; your Dad learned how to become a Father. Through sickness, disobedience, great times of success, and many, many proud moments that reminded us we were doing OK. I learned in my 20’s that God is enough. For me during the 20’s God stripped everything away from me to show me he was enough, He was my everything and He will never leave. Hard lessons, yet truths that get me through all difficult trials after that. You will make mistakes in your 20’s, life will always be changing, but you have parents cheering you on and a God who will never leave not matter what changes may come. Some changes you look forward to and some will blindside you and leave you spinning. Remember to always SEEK HIM FIRST no matter what and you have half the battle won. We love you and are proud of you. Happy Birthday son. Can’t wait to see what God does in your 20’s!! Readers: WHAT ADVISE DO YOU HAVE FOR 20 YEAR OLDS?
