2014 - Best Dressed Public Safety Award Sheriff John Skipper is pleased to announce that the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has been chosen as one of this year’s Best Dressed Public Safety Agencies in the United States. This is the 37th year that the North American Association of Uniform Manufactures & Distributors (NAUMD) has selected the “best dressed” agencies from its 385 member manufactures and distributors. The Sheriff’s Honor Guard was nominated by uniform manufacturer Fechheimer to participate in this year’s competition. Per NAUMD, the competition emphasizes the high value of professional, neat, well-fitted and immediately identifiable uniforms in the vitally important role of public safety and law enforcement. Six public safety agencies were selected this year; Anderson County was the only Sheriff’s Office to receive this prestigious award. Other agencies included the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jersey City Police Department, Hartford Police Department, and the Florida Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement. Investigator J.T. Foster, Lieutenant J.W. Mills, and Investigator Craig Holbrooks were chosen by their peers to represent the agency at the award ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 4th. Per guard commander, Lt. J.W. Mills, “We are very humbled and very proud to have been considered for this award. The award shows the dedication of the members of our Honor Guard to present the most professional appearance we can during any event of which we are a part.” The Sheriff’s Honor Guard is currently made up of 14 deputies who remain in an on-call status for funerals and other parade ceremonies. They are available at the Sheriff’s request, and can provide a 21 gun salute and/or the playing of taps. The Honor Guard is a voluntary position.
