2014 Prospectus for Nanjing Municipal Government—Nanjing University of Science & Technology *********Application deadline: July 10, 2014.*************** Link for deatlis>>> english.njust.edu.cn/s/86/t/388/1b/5c/info7004.htm In order to attract more outstanding international students to study at Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NUST), Nanjing Government and NUST have jointly set up the scholarship program. I. Coverage of the scholarship: 1.Types of Scholarship: 1) Full scholarship: - Tuition and fees for registration, laboratory experiments, internship, basic learning materials and intramural accommodation; - Living allowance: CNY 2,000 per month for doctoral students; CNY 1,700 per month for masters degree students; CNY 1,400 per month for bachelors degree students; - Intramural accommodation:Single room for doctoral students; Double-bed room for masters and bachelor’s degree students; - By showing Family Membership Certificate issued by China Embassy or General Consulate, married graduates who carry with family members can ask for accommodation allowance from NUST. CNY10,000 per year for doctoral students; CNY 5,000 per year for masters degree students; - Fees for outpatient medical services and Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China; - The one-off settlement subsidy for new students after registration: CNY 1,500 per person. 2) Partial scholarship: - Tuition and fees for registration, laboratory experiments, internship, basic learning - Comprehensive Medical Insurance and Benefit Plan for International Students in China; 2. Number of Winning Students: Type Doctor’ Degree Master’ Degree Bachelor’ Degree Full Scholarship 20 40 50 Partial Scholarship 10 30 50 Total 30 70 100 3. Duration of the Scholarships - Doctoral Degree Students: 4 academic years - Masters Degree Students: 2.5 academic years - Bachelors Degree Students: 4 academic years Note: Scholarship students who choose program taught in Chinese language are required to take one-year remedial Chinese language courses and pass the relevant test prior to the studies in their specialties. For those who take the one-year remedial Chinese language courses, the duration of the scholarship will be extended correspondingly. Scholarship students must go through the Annual Review of the NJMG-NUST Joint Scholarship Status. Scholarship will be terminated if the student fails to fulfill the requirements. II. Eligibility Requirements 1. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals and in good health. 2. Education background and age limit: - Applicants for undergraduate programs must have senior high school diploma when registered and be under the age of 28; - Applicants for master degree program must have bachelor degree when registered and be under the age of 35; - Applicants for doctoral degree program must have master degree when registered and be under the age of 40 3. Applicants should have a competitive academic record. III. PROGRAMS Found in the attachment (download). IV. Application Documents Applicants must provide the following documents (each in duplicate): 1. Application Form for Nanjing Municipal Government—Nanjing University of Science & Technology Joint Scholarship Program for International Student (download) filled in Chinese or in English. 2. Photocopy of the applicants passport. 3. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If applicants are university students, they must also provide documents showing their status as university students or School Transfer Certificate. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translation in Chinese or in English. 4. Applicants for doctoral studies need to provide notarized copies of their undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Applicants for master degree studies need to provide notarized copies of their undergraduate transcripts. Applicants for bachelor degree studies need to provide notarized copies of their high school transcripts. Note: Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translation in Chinese or English. 5. Applicants for graduate studies need a study or research proposal in Chinese or in English (no less than 800 words). 6. Applicants for graduate studies need two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). Letters must include professors’ phone number and email address. 7. Published academic papers or other academic achievements (if applicable). 8. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (download) (printed by Chinese quarantine authority). Applicants are expected to keep the original copies filled in English. The medical examination must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Medical examination results will be valid for 6 months. All applicants are kindly requested to take this factor into consideration as they plan to take the medical examination. 9. Applicants for graduate are encouraged to contact their prospective supervisors prior to application and are expected to enclose in their application packages with the Form for Provisional Acceptance of International Student by NUST Professor (download). Note: Application materials will NOT be returned regardless of the result. V. Admission and Notification Application deadline: July 10, 2014. Applicants can submit the application documents or photocopies (refer to section IV below) to the School of International Education, Nanjing University of Science & Technology, by post mail or in person. Date of Scholarship result:July 20, 2014 Notification: The result will be published on the university website AND sent to applicants via E-mail (please ensure your email address is correct). NUST will send the Admission Notice and JW202 form once we get the confirmation from winners by the email. VI. Notes 1. Scholarship students who have to suspend their studies due to illness must return to their home country for further treatment and recovery. Expenses for the international travel to and from the university will be borne by the students themselves, and their scholarship status will be reserved for one year at most, with the monthly living allowance stopped during the suspension. Scholarships of the students who suspend their studies for reasons other than illness will not be reserved. 2.
