2014 Vodafone Fiji FACT host Rewa has dropped experienced goalie Simione Tamanisau while suspended marksman Iosefo Verevou remains in the final squad. Tamanisau picked up an injury while playing rugby for Northland and has been replaced by young Manasa Benito. Rewa manager Lawrence Nath told FijiLive that the former national skipper will remain with the team during the tournament and will help coach Marika Rodu in keeping the players focused and determined on the task at hand. It is rather unfortunate that Simi cannot play due to injury. But he nevertheless will remain in camp with the boys and will be very much part of the team off the field. Commenting about Verevous inclusion, Nath said they are optimistic the youngster will be cleared by the Fiji FA Board of Control. Fiji FA is yet to make a decision about him and we have decided to keep in the squad. We are keeping our fingers crossed for now and if it so happens that we progress to the semis and Iosefo is freed by Fiji FA then surely he will be playing for us. The Fiji FA BOC will make a ruling on Verevou and four other members of the Vodafone Fiji U20 squad who broke camp last month next weekend in Nausori. Meanwhile Nath is calling on all Rewa fans to come out in numbers and support the team at home. We are hosting a tournament after a while and we need all the support of the fans to make it a success. The team management and players have worked hard in the preparations and we now need the fans to come out in numbers and support the team as we chase victory on our home soil. The Delta Tigers will open their campaign against Labasa in the feature Day 1 match at 7.30pm on Friday.
