2014 is a busy year for Mento Buru, but 2013 was a scorcher too. Its an honor to be nominated with so many talented locals. I cant recall a local band ever being nominated, so this kind of caught us off-guard! When asked which event we would like to pick as last years highlight, we picked our Cinco de Mayo show at Buck Owens Crystal Palace. The initial idea was to have a great party, but we believe it really helps bridge local Latin music and culture, in of all places, the house that Buck Owens built! As Bakersfield continues to grow, we hope Mento Buru continues to represent a cool cross-section of whats going down, not only in one segment of the music scene, but the whole city. Cheers to all the nominees!
