2015 presidential elections on My Mind,,(1) As My country Nigeria heads towards an electoral year, fully aware of the several indices which had thrown up our leaders in times past I want to pen my thoughts on what I suggest is the best way forward . First and Foremost option Maintain status quo . This means retain the current President Good luck Jonathan . Its foolhardy to retain an incumbent for the sake of continuity without merits or voting it out just for the sake of change without reason . My personal decision is NOT to vote for the status quo for several reasons of which I will highlight 5 1)Vote in 2011 In 2011,I didnt hop on the band wagon of voting for a man borne from petty pity of his humble past . Most parents lived in those climes without luxuries and shouldnt be dashed leadership of less pivotal roles much more presidency . Back in 2011, I asked questions about his track record to buttress the urge to thumb in the man ,None was advised save the pedestrian ,melancholic and less reasonable treat of hes a minority shoeless . One ridiculous reason adduced by a contemporary who lost his estate of intellectual engagement with me was Hes tried ,been deputy all his life ,lets allow him What ? That summarized the less charitable or should I say cheap emotive culture of the Nigerian. In short ,my reasons back then havent been upended by any higher argument. So for continuity of common sense ( personal / subjective ) ,I will defer to my a priori approach with substance proffered in my proceeding thoughts 2)Contempt for honor and integrity A palpable continuance of the impunity of lack of integrity . Any person with a sense of collective empathy for national integrity will without pressing into much memory see auspiciously the loyalty the present government has to deceit . I will cite 5 typical examples I wont run in 2015 I need not supply proof ,its all over the media ,a commitment he made . This was a personal speech delivery and even heralded by foreign press.obviously to garner some compromise support of the ruling elites of a part of nigeria . Now before u hogwash normalcy with the much incinerated bukum of everybody does it give it some thought, has it helped the everybody ?why undertake the gradual descent of a nation into infamy ,incredulous jejune ridicule by acquicebce to robbery of truth via deceit . In societies where truth is sacred ( whether hypocritically or otherwise ) such words are engraven. This pledge to lie was further announced at the PDP rally by no less person than his allegedly estranged political god father President Obasanjo . 2)Campaign of deceit in the war against terror . The several summersaults in the Boko haram war . Whilst propaganda is an art of war ,It mustnt be used against your own people to be pilloried into numbness , From the succeeding military chiefs including a past IG ,each took it turns to loud further the obscenities of deceit foisted on us by this regime . We shall end the war of Friday .( this is a pun on the several time lines ) We have recaptured the chibok girls We have negotiated the release of the chibok girls We have killed shekau ( This particular claim seems more like an aphrodisiac compelled by any capture of a commander within the dreaded sect ,every major killing is shekaus ) We have captured all the commanders ( anothe pun ) The most appalling ,and morale damaging was the recent denial of the knowledge of the crashed airforce jet by BH,the military kept lying as BH kept providing evidences till the criminals had to telecast an actual confession of the murdered valiant soldier before gruesomely be heading him with proof of the crashed Jet. This was occasioned by an initial denial of the gallant officer by no less than the military authorities . Such disregard and discouraging trend against present and prospective patriotism . Shame! This is rather sad as morality and truth have taken a tormenting pummeling by this regime . 3)Failed promises I wont bore u with the grim details of the more than enough failed promises of the administration But if u need specifics check www,ipcng.org for the specifics of these failed promises . If u really want to vote for integrity do a score card and ask if hes a man to be trusted . Permit me to add ,with 5 years in the saddle running up to 6 years in a few months ,a tenure which witnessed the largest inflow of revenue ever since this country gained independence ,on the scale of performance spiced with sentiments I will score him E. From Education, power ,security, social welfare ,probity ,transparency ,respect for rule of law etc I will wish a plebiscite or referendum be conducted to arrest the conundrum . Let me highlight A fundamental for progressive societies Rule of Law I will cite two instances . Ekiti - where unheard of in our history a judge was allegedly beaten up ,courtroom destabilized and rather than deal decisively with the issue ,political commentaries buried the hubris of such decline in cacophony of its the opposition trying to stop inauguration etc Only in Nigeria ! Desecrating the courts pin points one basic fact .Decline of regard for appropriateness . What happened to basic Instruments of law to appeal ,petition etc,If u cant patiently await the outcome of processes put together for sanity then you have much heavier ruckus on the way. Mark my words . The administration simply played ostrich .rather Senate president was quoted to have boasted the supremacy of his partys power over the courts . However the Adamawa imbroglio was quickly doused via instrumentality of FG,since the fortunes are still home with the ruling party Typical . The subtle sack of Justice Ayo Salami I wont bore you with details but the man was obviously disallowed from continuing in office as his stay was perceived antithetical to the electoral fortunes of the ruling party . Even though the president claimed he acted upon NJCs advise,he surreptitiously declined the same bodys advise to re instate the man after investigations turned the man NOT guilty of all perceived or imagined wrongs. Typical . Salami remains impeccable despite the beer parlor accusations which failed the scrutiny of legal examinations . Yet we have moved on as a nation with the reins of the sanctity of justice eroded ubiquitously and impugned without much ado . The electoral heists of exercises conducted in Ekiti and Osun with security agencies openly partisan and heavily manipulative are basic addendum to a tyranny left un attended to. Whilst ekiti had a docile opposition. ,Osun haven observed the Ekiti malaise had to add extra to its vigilance even at that ,it still witnessed much under currents of civil tyranny . (To be continued) NB- this piece is open to disagreements and diverse opinions however abusive use of language ,obscenities will be disavowed .i wont hesitate to use the delete button un apologetically for non participatory submission,
