2015 will be a significant year for the Skipjack Ada Mae and Carolina Coastal Classrooms. 100 years ago Captain Ralph Hodges finished work on his 1st skipjack in Rose Bay, NC. He named the ship after his little sister Ada Mae. This will be a year of celebration of a century of continuous productive work plying the waters of North Carolina, Virgina and Maryland. She has dredged for oysters and crabs, hauled cargo, been a hospitality vessel for an ecological movement and been instrumental in the education and experiences of many of our youth. Watch for more as we celebrate this centennial year for this historic and significant vessel.
