21st CENTURY LEARNING DESIGN FOR HIGHER EDUCATION BY MICROSOFT MALAYSIA, ORGANIZED BY CETaL On 25 November 2014, CETaL has organized its first training workshop/sharing session since its establishment. The aim of this workshop is to share the knowledge pertinent to Microsoft software to the faculty members who are interested to innovate their teaching & learning activities. There were altogether 17 participants from various academic department attended this session. The requests to join this talk was overwhelming but CETaL had to limit the participation due to the availability of the facilitators from Microsoft for the hands on session. The speaker of this sharing session is Datin Dr Norrizan bt Razali, who is currently the education director of Microsoft Malaysia. Datin Dr Norrizan delivered the talk on 21st Century Learning Approach in Higher Education which encompassed the need to make the students in 21st century to become the IT knowledge creator instead of IT knowledge consumer. This also included imparting change in the way the faculty members facilitated the students to use IT facilities i.e. instead of go and search for the information, but rather create informative products based on the student’s findings. This workshop followed by the demonstration from Ms Lai Li Kuan, the 0365 Integration Specialist. She demonstrated the use of Microsoft products such as One Drive, Share Point, Lync and One Note to enhance the teaching, learning and research activities. The half-day session followed by the hands on session involving the faculty members. The workshop/sharing session held was an eye opener to the participants especially to those who are not from the IT background. In the future, there will be more sharing sessions that will be conducted by CETaL, especially in the area of strengthening the capability development of the faculty members in conducting educational research.
