27Mar75: The final assault on Phnom Penh, capital city of Cambodia. Another break from my traditional refusal to speak or write the citys name until the 30th. All who served in Cambodia in 1975 were exemplary. Holding to finest tradition of Honor in the the United States Military. Dr. Hang S. Knor was a hero by any standard. I am so very glad that he was not knowledgeable of many of the details coming from the White House. I had a true friend that took me to the movie The Killing Fields seven times till I could finally watch all the way through. One of the lesser known facts is that the French Government notified the US that its Embassy would provide sanctuary for ALL. It also vowed to use all resources necessary to defend the Embassy. gerald ford refused to accept that offer. He himself ordered the culling of the US staff. The rest is history. I consider the Genocide and ALL that we did to directly aid it, the darkest time in American history. Two administrations were willing to destroy a civilization trying to keep secret the worst kept secret in history. Also this year I choose not to catalog the edicts from our president. But these edicts are what forced me to admit that I did know what was happening. I have been graced to know the Best of the Best. Without them I would not have survived. With my fathers passing so goes the data assembled to insure that if needed the United States Military would not be stained by the actions of gerald ford.
