2nd October 13 Matthew 18:1-5,10 Guardian Angel, Gandhi Jayanti In a world where people are craving for glory, fame, power and position we are confronted by the Gospel today that greatness, glory, fame, power and position is achieved not by doing what we tend to do but by being simple and childlike. The Gospel takes our mind to the many qualities of a child; trust, simplicity, obedient, innocent, etc.. etc.. and one of the main qualities that the child posses is ‘POSSESSIVENESS’, possessiveness in a positive manner. Once a child liked something may it be a toy, a dress, an object, person etc.. it will never part from it even in bed while sleeping until the child receives something better. And I think there is something to be learn from this quality of a child, that as Christian we should be possessive of each other, treat each other as special and the best, take care of each other until we possess the ultimate (Jesus). Today the feast that we commemorate reminds us that our Guardian Angel is so possessive of us that they are with us wherever we go. They are there even while we sleep, we pray, we eat, we cry, we dance. In India today we are reminded of Mahatma Gandhi who is so possessive of our beloved country that he was ready to die for the liberation of India from evil clutches. ARE WE POSSESSIVE OF OUR FAME, GLORY, POWER ETC… LIKE A CHILD? LIKE GANDHI? LIKE OUR GUARDIAN ANGEL? LIKE JESUS?
