3 Counties Sabs Report 24.1.15 Today 6 sabs in 2 cars visited the South Herefordshire Hunt who met at Andys Fishing Lake, Travase Farm, Herefordshire. A conversation was overheard between one of the field and a supporter on foot they killed one up there. We hope nothing had been killed but its possible a fox was chopped (term used for an immediate kill) as soon as the hunt went out. Fairly soon the hunt blocked the road while Mal the huntsman went into private land on foot with the hounds. The quad bike driver revved the engine to mask the sound but hounds were heard speaking and one of the sabs used a couple of horn calls to distract the hounds. Whilst stuck stationary on the road there was an incident involving some dangerous driving by support. Eventually the hunt moved on. We noticed the Reverend Neil Patterson from Weston under Penyard Church was part of the field, we hope he enjoyed our rendition of All things bright and beautiful! Sabs managed to keep close to the hunt all day although the pack and field seemed to be split a lot of the time with hounds dangerously running around on roads as we are used to seeing with this hunt. Sabs spotted 2 foxes within a few minutes of each other, running for their lives away from the direction of the hunt. Citronella was sprayed to mask their scent and we believe the foxes ran to safety. Major Darling informed us that spraying citronella was an act of aggrevated trespass. As the Sheriff of Herefordshire wed expect him to know the law better. The field diminished as the day went on. Several police vehicles were seen in the area and strangely support seemed to vanish soon after. The quad driver and passenger seemed very interested in the St Weonards Church area so one sab car kept close by while the other drove on. At around 3.30pm sabs found the last of the riders packing up at the meet. Until the next time...
