32 years ago today, on Saturday, November 11, 1972, we lost The Legendary Berry Oakley, (April 4, 1948 – November 11, 1972), Co-Founding Bassist of The Allman Brothers Band, to injuries received in a tragic motorcycle accident, just over a year after & 2 blocks from where we lost The Legendary Duane Allman (November 20, 1946 – October 29, 1971) in a similar accident. Loaded an inexperienced bike rider, Berry tried to follow a Friend across the street, struck a bus twice, losing his helmet, & was thrown to the curb on his head. Thinking himself uninjured, he went home but was later rushed to the ER in agony & died. His Family was told that the nature of his injuries were such that even if hed been rushed there immediately after the accident, he couldnt have been saved. R.I.P. Berry. You were an Unbelievable & Irreplaceable Talent & you left a hole in our hearts & Music Worlds that can never be filled! You will Never be forgotten & your music will Never die!
