365 Days, 365 Songs III. Day 10: Time Stand Still, Rush (Feat. Aimee Mann) Progressive rock band, Rush, released this song in 1987 on their album, Holding Your Fire. Written by Neil Peart about his time with the band, its a reflection on all the time spent on the road preforming with Rush and about the family and friends he neglected while doing so. Its a reminder to stop and enjoy your family and friends currently without spending your time in the past. Featured on the single is Aimee Mann of then Til Tuesday fame. Originally the band wanted Cindy Lauper or Chrissie Hynde for the part but in the end, decided on Aimee Mann to add her gentle voice to accompany Geddy Lees. Every once in a while I try to imagine what the song would sound like if they had gone another route but I cant Aimee Manns voice just fits. In conclusion, take some time today to spend with the people in your life that matter. I believe Ferris Bueller said it best when he said, Life moves pretty fast. If you dont stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.
