365 Photo-a-Day Project June 14, 2013 – A Cruise Down Memory Lane Friday’s are a fun day for me. I get to take a walk down memory lane as I watch the classic cars arrive for the Cruis’n Flag City car cruise. My volunteer duties at the car cruise are to take pictures of the cars and post them to the Facebook page and take the formal picture of the Car of the Week winner. It’s a sweet gig, and right up my alley. As the cars arrive and park, you can really begin to see that they are a highway history of the 20th century. Leather bench seats, razor sharp tail fins, white-wall tires, and shiny, insanely beautiful, hood ornaments are all lovingly restored by their owners and proudly displayed. Owners of classic cars are not shy; they have the gift of gab and love to talk about their car. And boy, do they have some great stories about how they acquired their car…interesting and fun stories that I love to hear. Cruis’n Flag City brings back the good old days when I used to drive around as a teenager and go cruisin’ on a Saturday night to Walli’s Drive In. I remember hearing the roar of the cars as the guys revved the engines. Those were the good old days and all I can say is they don’t make ‘em like that anymore.
