4.5 hour kayak float with the Boy Scouts of Troop 160 West Plains, MO. They did a great job! We got an early jump on the river and beat the storms. This is one of the requirements for the Camping Merit Badge which I am currently counseling. The Scouts also picked up a lot of trash along the North Fork. Last night they practiced cooking their meals on single burner camp stoves. Trickier than it seems. Some of you may already know this, but I am not involved as an Assistant Scout Leader with the BSA anymore. I will be active as a Merit Badge Counselor for Troop 160 for several of the outdoor skills Merit Badges. I will be requiring that all Scouts taking my Merit Badges are 1st Class Scout rank. So if some of you have been dragging your feet on making rank...get busy! We are going to have some fun and learn some neat stuff, but you gotta do your part and move yourself forward.
