41st martyrdom anniv of Capt Aftabul Qader Capt Aftabul Qader Bir Uttam Shaheed Capt Aftabul Qader embraced martyrdom in a direct confrontation with Pakistan army at Mahalchhari of Khagrachhari this day in 1971 in our liberation war, says a press release. Roll number one of Dhaka University 1965 batch (BA Hons), Aftabul Qader left the Department of English in 1966 and got commissioned in Pakistan army in 1968. One of the few brave army officers who died within a month of the declaration of the War of Independence, Capt. Aftabul Qader was on holidays at that time in the then East Pakistan. Facing many odds on way to Chittagong from Dhaka, he eventually reached Rangamati. On order of the then army high command, he had to move to Khagrachharis strategic front. His eldest brother former secretary and Ambassador Dr M Afsarul Qader and second eldest brother state minister of the Bangladesh govt and ambassdor to the United States M Akramul Qader have requested all to pray for the departed soul of Capt M Aftabul Qader.
