51 years ago John F Kennedy was killed in Dallas, Texas...do you know where you were on that date??? Heres my story (and Im sticking to it)... ...I was 15 years old and a sophomore in high school at Ramey AFB in Puerto Rico...I lived off base, and the school bus dropped me off at the stop about 3/4 mile from my house...it was the monsoon rainy season and it was raining cats and dogs...I slipped into a Rum Shack, a small rickety pub like place, it had a tiny bar, and one table for the locals to play dominos...the radio was on and they were talking about the assassination in Spanish, which I did not speak...but, being from Texas, I knew the President was supposed to be there...I love history and government policy...I could make out Texas and Kennedy on the report, but that was all....when the guys in the Rum Shack, who had gathered around the radio and were no longer playing their domino game, realized I didnt speak Spanish and wasnt reacting to the news...they came up to me and said, El Presidente, El Presidente and they made stabbing motions with their hands...I realized what they were saying and ran home in the rain and told my mom to turn on the radio...we didnt have a TV out in the sticks of Puerto Rico...(and thats where I was...ha) A small addendum to this post: From 1973 to 1985 I was a Private Investigator in Dallas and I worked on the United States House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) which was established in 1976 to investigate the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.. The HSCA completed its investigation in 1978 and issued its final report the following year. During this time I worked for the Private Investigator (Bob Denson) who was Melvin Bellis PI... Belli was Jack Rubys attorney...I also worked with Jim Levelle, the fellow in the cream colored cowboy hat that was handcuffed to Oswald when he was shot...It was a great experience working with the committee and working with these guys who were there and heavily involved in the tradegy....Boy, do I have stories
