534 Oklahomans died of accidental prescription drug overdoses in in 2012. In fact, Mothers Day was different for us in this family this year for that reason. Every time a narcotic scrip is filled it goes into an OSBI dataset that medical providers can check before writing new scrips. I read medical records this week where a lady went to the ER requesting pain meds and the physician checked the database and refused to prescribe because she had 5 scrips in 2 weeks from 4 different doctors. Why didnt the other doctors also check that record? How in the world did these kids mom in our family keep getting narcotics? Now the State M.E. will be required to report overdose deaths to OSBI to see who is prescribing this crud ... Bout time .... Damn sure isnt the drug companies that are going to try to stop it ...
