7:18 AM Latest F-35 design flaw will be very problematic in Israel. A new design flaw has been uncovered in the F-35 fighter plane (which Israel is being forced to buy, despite repeated attempts to minimize the order size), which could significantly affect Israels ability to fight. Initially, when being forced to buy the plane, Israel fought hard to have the design allow for advanced Israeli electronics to be fitted into the plane - for a while the US absolutely refused, but it was so important that the US realized it was going to be a deal-breaker and gave in. But those electronics are going to be useless, if the plane cant get off the ground. The latest design flaw (which might help explain why the test planes were grounded this past summer in the US after one ignited on the tarmac) is that the plane cant handle fuel that is too hot - it leads to aircraft shutdown. Too hot appears to be fuel that is warmer than 110 degrees FAHRENHEIT - a cup of warm tea is apparently hotter than the fuel temperatures the F-35 can handle. As you can imagine, a plane sitting on the hot tarmac in Israels summer, 110 degrees (all summer long) would be the perfect time for an enemy to attack, and for Israel to discover that its planes cant even get off the ground. So the US has come up with ingenious solutions. [/sarc] The first is to paint the fuel trucks target-white to reflect the heat. Dont know where the F-35s are sitting? Just look for the bright target-white fuel trucks. And they have another solution, parking shades. Cant find that F-35 base? Just look for the Sukkahs along the side of the runway. But what do they do with that F-35 sitting on the tarmac waiting for takeoff? A portable Sukkah? Paint the F-35 white? Air conditioning on the side of the runway? Im thinking Tunnel Launcher like in Battlestar Galactica. Oy va voy. jewishpress/news/breaking-news/latest-f-35-flaw-makes-jet-problematic-for-israel/2014/12/10/
