{#7 Issue: Someone tory should put the 1922 on a leash} A group of 60 Conservative MPs are attempting to persuade the Prime Minster to clear the way for the creation of new grammar schools. The 1922 committee, a grassroots Tory group whose members include influential backbenchers Liam Fox and David Davis, are calling for the ban on new selective state schools to be scrapped. David Cameron has so far resisted pressure to change the law on the issue, but Dr Fox said: “Diversity in the provision of education has been a central theme of this government’s policy and should be extended wherever possible.”
