7 years ago today, I woke up in a hospital bed with a little baby next to me. At 12:26 in the morning, she had arrived. Pink, healthy, beautiful, and really mad that we had disturbed her home for the last 9 months. She was by all accounts, a miracle. All babies are but she was truly a gift to two people who had almost given up on being parents (ironic, I know). And she was a light in a dark time in many peoples lives, a sign of good while we dealt with the bad, my father dying the year before. She is the easiest kid in the world, smart, beautiful, compassionate, and funny. She is a daughter, a sister, a friend to everyone she meets. She is an artist, a scientist, a princess, a ninja, a gardener, a beach fanatic, a musician, a comedian, a rule follower, a rule breaker, and everything else in between. She lacks definition and I love that about her. She is Maggie Leigh.
