70 Year Old Landlord Commits Suicide in Abeokuta,Ogun State. An Abeokuta based landlord, 70, has committed suicide by hanging himself in the living room of his bungalow apartment located in Olorombo community, situated behind the famous MKO Abiola International Stadium, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, south-west Nigeria. It was reliably gathered that, the dangling. corpse of the septuagenarian was uncovered by residents of the six-room bungalow, twenty hours after the sad incident. A tenant who confided in our correspondent disclosed that, the man had in recent times been hostile to the neighbors and his tenants for reasons they could not establish, but it was however, established and observed that, none of his seven children had visited him in a long time before the incident. He said, the pervading odor was said to have made tenants and neighbors curious,coupled with sudden absence of the landlord, while the door was also noticed locked behind, hence,they have to peep through the window and discovered the dangling body of the 70 year old landlord with a rope tied round his neck and hung on the ceiling plank. It was further learnt that, the shocking discovery forced other residents to raise alarm which also attracted neighbors who trooped to the scene, to catch a glimpse of the remains of the man. Police were later informed about the incident and visited the house to force the door open before swollen corpse could removed by the family members earlier contacted by the residents. On visit to the house, as at Tuesday a grave had been dug in front of the house by members of the deceased family, shortly after a close door meeting with head of the community, and it was also resolved that rituals will be carried out before final burial of the man. However, as at the time of filing this report, all tenants in the house have vacated the building, as they were said to be scared about the shocking development. Similarly, residents and neighbors were seen discussing the shocking news, while some could not give reasons for what might have caused it, others were of the opinion that he might have been frustrated due to neglect by his immediate family, noting that, none of his seven children had visited him for a long time. Meanwhile, all efforts to get reaction of Ogun State Police Command Public Relations, Muyiwa Adejobi proved abortive, as he could not be reach on phone.
