8.22.14 Email from the Superintendent: Dear Parents and Community, I have finalized the last two days needed to make up the 8 days that we lost at the beginning of the year due to the delay of school. Below is a review of how we will be making up all of the days including the two new days that the Board of Trustees allowed the superintendent to determine. I have also included in this email two attachments. The attachments include the revised school calendar and an announcement by the City of Moscow of how they are trying to help our families by keeping the pool open and setting up soccer camps for students. Date Changes (New) Remove October 30th as a Parent/Teacher Conference day and make it an student instructional day. Parent-Teacher Conferences were regularly scheduled for October 30-31, but we will now be scheduling conferences in the evening of that week and only during one day on the 31st. Add three instructional days (11/24-26) on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week with an early release on Wednesday, November 26th. (New) Add an instructional day on Monday, January 5th rather than doing a Teacher Professional Development Day. The Professional Development Day would then be moved to the end of the year after students have finished for the school year. Change the Teacher Work Day/Data Analysis Day that was on January 23rd to January 30th due to the change in dates that the semester will end (No instructional days added or subtracted due to this change). Add an instructional day on Friday, May 22nd rather than having Data Analysis Day/Snow Day Make-Up day. Add two days to the end of the year, which would be Thursday June 4th and Friday, June 5th to complete the last week of school. Friday would be a 1:30 release time. Moscow High School Graduation would remain on Friday June 5th. Paradise Creek Regional High School Would graduate a day earlier on June 4th. Also, I want to state how appreciative I’ve been to all of the people who emailed their support and understanding of the district and the decision we had to make. Our goal was to make sure we had a safe and positive learning environment for our students. Sincerely, Dr. Gregory J. Bailey Superintendent Moscow School Dist. #281 650 North Cleveland Street Moscow, ID 83843 208-892-1139 (Work) 208-883-4440 (Fax) msdweb.msd281.org/wordpress/ and check out the link for parent and community info in the red link box at the top.
