8-8 tonight in a game that could decide if we go to playoffs. 2 seconds to go in first half, their qb goes to pass, scrambles through a tackle by one of my best tacklers, then runs down the sideline, breaking the tackles of three more of my best tacklers for a score. They kick extra point. We come back and score and kick extra point. We are driving when time runs out (no overtime in youth football). One mother was heard saying that we did not win because we had bad coaching. Of course, she was one of three mothers who child did not play in a game that we had to win so that we could get more games in which everybody would get play. Moreover, we had a game yesterday in which we made sure everyone that might not get to play tonight got to play so it would not be such a big issue, but she did not take her kid. That game did not count toward championship, nor will the one Saturday in which we will again make sure the scrubs get plenty of time. Gee, if I can understand the frustration of a parent whose kid does not get to play enough, why cannot they understand that a coach has to look out for the team, not just one kid?
