A CHANCE TO OPPOSE WAL-MART TONIGHT: On Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 6:30 pm the DC Zoning Commission will be holding a hearing on whether to approve a Planned Unit Development ("PUD") to allow a Walmart along East Capitol Street and 58th Street, NE. This Walmart would be one of six Walmarts proposed for the District -- among cities, the highest number of proposed Walmarts in the country. There are other elements of the proposed PUD that would prove detrimental to the neighborhood, including the lack of truly affordable housing for neighboring residents in the proposed retail/residential building. Please attend this hearing if you are available. If you attend and are interested, you may also testify at the hearing.
