A Dell Rapids businesswoman and civic leader will replace state Rep. Jon Hansen in the South Dakota House of Representatives. Gov. Dennis Daugaard on Wednesday appointed Kris Langer to fill the vacancy created when Hansen resigned to attend law school. She’s a Realtor for LandMark Realty and Auction in Dell Rapids, and is a former member and president of the Dell Rapids City Council. Langer has also served on several economic development boards. In his announcement, Daugaard called Langer an “impressive woman and a leader in her community.” She’ll represent District 25 in the Legislature, which includes part of eastern Sioux Falls and wraps around to northern Minnehaha County and the towns of Dell Rapids, Baltic and Garretson. Both Langer and Hansen are Republicans. Hansen was a legislative leader in his second term in the Legislature.
