A LITTLE FOAL BORN TO DIE! WHY? Today was the first day I saw Blaze in the flesh, I had been studying his picture previously. I looked over the stable door and was met with two frightened eyes and a quivering little body. My heart bled for him, so young and to know no kindness, to be afraid of a gentle hand, to not expect a soft words, it is heartbreaking. As I entered the stable,he backed away from me slowly, eyes always on me, I found myself becoming increasingly frustrated with humanity, why would they breed him? They clearly didnt want him! Blaze has no monetary value maybe that was why they dumped him? Why not show kindness to this little soul? Why not spend a little time with him?Why not give him the start he deserved after all someone made a conscious decision to let their mare run with a stallion? A handled horse is a homeable horse. He stood shaking when I petted him, there is not a bad bone in his fragile little body and someone out there could not even offer him a small bit of compassion. He was found roaming the streets, impounded and destined for death at not even a year old. What a disgusting life he was bred for, luckily for Blaze it was Hungryhorse Outside that got that call to seize him, looking at Blaze it made me wonder how many more Blazes are destined for the same road and it might not be us that gets that call. I have no doubt in my mind that Blazes mother will go on to have several more foals, what will become of them? Do people expect rescues like ourselves to keep cleaning up after their messes? What happens when we actually cant afford to keep any more, will they die where they are dumped? Please, please think before you breed.
