A LITTLE SNOW, A LOT OF COLD: Just an update about tonight and Monday morning...this is still shaping up to be a MINOR wintry weather event for most of us. Well see rain in Bowling Green tonight into the wee hours of Monday morning. There will be a gradual changeover from rain to snow from NW to SE during the predawn hours, reaching Bowling Green and the I-65 corridor around 4am (later to the east). By the time we see that change, most of the moisture from our system will be east of us, but I still expect a period (2-3 hours tops) of snow before it ends just after daybreak in BG. Total accumulation: Not a lot. Looks like 1 or less for most of South-Central KY, expect for areas along/N of the Western KY Parkway, where the changeover to snow happens sooner (1-3 possible there). Its there (esp N of a Hopkinsville to Beaver Dam to Etown line) where slick travel is most likely. Thats not to say we wont have any problems in BG, though. I think some slippery spots are possible on untreated and secondary roads along with bridges and overpasses around time for commute tomorrow. Use caution and prepare to allow yourself some extra time in the morning. By the way, we had accumulating snow in Bowling Green three days before Thanksgiving a year ago. The last time we saw back to back Novembers with accumulating snow in Bowling Green: 1976 and 1977. The winters that followed were BRUTAL...very cold and snowy. Just saying. After that, HERE COMES THE COLD!! Some of the most frigid temperatures weve seen in November in YEARS will settle in for Monday night into Tuesday. In fact, Tuesdays highs may not climb beyond the mid 20s (probably only low 20s in snow-covered spots to the north), likely establishing a record cold high for Tuesday. Wind chills will be bitter cold, running subzero at times early Tue morning and only rising into the single digits to low teens DURING THE DAY Tuesday! Tuesday nights record low of 17 set in 1951 may also be in jeopardy. Brrrrrrr!! #wbkowx #kywx
