A Letter To The NDC Family LET US COME OUT UNITED FROM THE CONGRESS Fellow comrades, as we prepare for our national congress at Kumasi to elect new executives to man various positions in the NDC for the next four years, it has become obvious that the campaign atmosphere is getting charged up negatively with verbal attacks and throwing of unsubstantiated allegations against fellow contestants in a bid to gain some electoral advantage. Having followed political deliberations and discussions on various social media platforms of the NDC, the print and electronic media, I feel obliged as a stakeholder to issue this humble release to call on all members of the NDC family to play positive roles in ensuring a successful congress. So far, I can only see the seed of discord and a possible bad blood at the end. Whilst the various strategies adopted may be accepted within a political contest, the repercussions for unity and strength of the party cannot be overlooked. It must not be lost on us that intra-party democratic practices and processes are to contribute tremendously to the growth of any political party thereby augmenting the quality of its culture. However, if these processes are not handled with caution, there is bound to be anarchy and chaos which could eventually lead to a cataclysmic catastrophe and the destruction of the fortunes of the party for a long time to come. Again, the paramount and compelling objectives of this internal democratic process cannot be gainsaid. The process is to afford us the opportunity to elect more capable and appealing leaders, who can bring on board more responsive policies and programs which can address the needs and aspirations of party members and to ultimately ensure greater electoral success in the 2016 elections. Anything beyond these could only lead to cutting the nose of the NDC to spite its face. Therefore, it is imperative for delegates, candidates and supporters to observe these process with utmost circumspection devoid of unnecessary bickering, animosity and antagonism. We are all privy to how some members of the NPP succeeded in dragging the reputation of some of their current executives into the mud with damaging allegations and remarks before their national conference. I am of the humble view that they only succeeded in giving the NDC some ammunitions towards the 2016 electioneering period. So the question is, are we following blindly or we are just too eager to reciprocate? Comrades, it is our right to support and campaign for candidate A, B, or C to come tops. My humble appeal to all of us, however, is for all to make sure that in the process of exercising our rightful democratic choices in this internal contest, we must not be guilty of wrongful conducts that may rock our boat and throw us into the abyss of political opposition. We must bear in mind that these contests are not between the devils and the angels; we must bear in mind that the contest is not between the NPP and the NDC, neither is it between evil and good; we must also bear in mind that the contest is not between us and them; but importantly, this contest is WITHIN the NDC. It is about us. It is about our unity now, during 2016 and beyond. Loving and campaigning for one candidate does not mean hating and running down another. It must also not mean we must destroy the other candidate. I believe that the best and appropriate strategy to adopt is to bring out the qualities of our candidates and promote them. As such, let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for power by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. On the contrary, we must conduct our campaign on the higher plane of dignity and discipline. Finally, let us maintain, retain and sustain our unity even after this congress, so that we can work together to ensure victory in 2016. As the saying goes, Human beings are moved by their emotions, but they are expected to be guided by their common senses. Indeed, in all these, we must put the interest of the party first! To conclude, I am of the conviction that we shall come out of this congress as united as ever, as one people with a common destiny. UNITED we STAND, divided we fall! I thank you all. Yours sincerely, Marcus Garvin Adampah #General_MaGA
