A Love Affair with God? I often wonder why it can be so hard for people to hear or take any interest in the things of God. I wish everyone would see the truth in Jesus and come to know the greatest and most wonderful Person who can fill them with true joy, peace, understanding, and riches greater than the possession of this whole world. I have come to realize that what is lacking in people is the love of God. “God is love”, and the only way people can believe and experience God in their lives is through love of God. Salvation is a person, and nothing less than a love affair with the person of Jesus Christ. The true Christian is the person who has a genuine love for God. It is a true and passionate love affair. Every religion and Christian who lacks this love is false. The world is full of false religions, and many who profess to be Christians, yet their lives lack any real fruit, and especially any real love for God. We can say we love God, but our actions and the things we are talking about, spend our time and money on, these show our true desires and testify to our true state. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever”. (1John 2:15-17) Consider this next verse from the bible and note that the “lost” people of this world will not see or perceive Jesus, but only those who love and obey what Jesus commanded. Note that, it is only to these that Jesus reveals Himself and by so doing reveals the Father. Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him. Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world? Jesus replied, If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me”. (John 14:21-24) The person who loves God is also loved by God. God lives in the person who loves Him. Most people will not even read this post because they have no interest in “religious” things. Neither do I. I don’t consider Jesus to be a religious thing. He is a living personal savior, friend, and God, and my greatest joy is to give Him my life and my all. He’s worthy of nothing less. Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. (1John 5:1-2) Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law? Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment”. (Matthew 22:36-38) Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test? (2Corinthians 13:5) Christ Jesus only lives in those who love Him, and in this love there is no room for the love of this world. But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires. These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in Gods love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 1:17-21)
