A Special Tribute to my Mother who passed in 2007 Today is moms birthday and I wanted to celebrate the life she had some how, so I have put together some pictures of the joy she shared with our family through out the years. There was nothing my mother loved more than her family. Having 5 brothers and 5 sisters she was always shareing with me the things that were happening in their lives keeping me informed of birthday, holidays, activities, graduations and deaths. She loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. Mom was so proud to have finally found her first born grandchild (a girl) after 21 years, and was able to see her first great child born (a girl). What a special love she has for family. The only other thing that might have taken a second place with my mothers love was for her DOGS. I never knew a time that mom didnt have a dog in her life and I remember a time that 10 plus dogs was over whelming to me, but not for mom. The unconditional love that dogs bring into a family is all she needed as she grew older and became more house bound. My mother might not have been there every time I needed her but when she was, she had a special gift of listening. She never judged me or criticized me for the choices I had made in my life. Mom was there with joy and pride as her children got married and then share the sorrows when the marriages ended. She loved the in-laws forever and never stopped talking to them. This was a gift that most of us cant do. Mom enjoyed the birth of 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchildren before she passed. We have added 3 more great grand children since that time. She saw her only grandson graduate from high school and college. Then had the great joy of seeing him get married. She was so proud of all her grandchildren for many special reasons. Mom had a long time partner that we called Poppo. Poppo was one year younger than I am and we always had a great time together when Duane and I, Mom and Tony were together. Duane is two years younger than my mother…so everyone would put Poppo and I together and Duane and mom together. We laughter for years over this dysfunctional family we have. My mother taught me through taking care of my Grandmother the importance of family caring for family. I was so bless to have had the fortune to be able to take my mother on a 2 week trip of 3000 miles across the country and bring her home to my house for her final days. She passed in our home with her children around her, and she never felt like she was a burden to us, because she new this was a privilege of caring for her. As I celebrate this special day, if I had one wish, it would be, to have just one more day with my mother to tell her I lover and I miss her more today than that day she left this earth. I would tell her that I understand her choice in life more now that I am in my 60s. I would thank her for the love she shared with my children and praise her for all the joy she brought to our lives. Happy Birthday Mom If your mother is still on this earth, take the time to say I love while you can.
