A Thought for the Day/Mensaje del dia “I have,” some say, “a personal relationship with God. It is the center of my life.” What could this mean? Faith, rightfully, originates in our deepest experiences, reflections, and judgments. It is present in anyone who has come to know that God exists. Faith becomes personal when a person’s experience of God becomes an experience not only that God exists but also that He loves, that “God loves me,” that “God is loving me right now.” If this becomes people’s experience of God, their life of faith is not so much a life in accord with belief but rather a life inspired by love. Their experience of God gives them ongoing encouragement and guidance. Their lives have become an ongoing attempt to love God back. “Yo tengo,” unos dicen, “una relación personal con Dios. Esa relación es el centro de mi vida.”¿Qué puede significar eso? La fe, justamente, tiene su origen en nuestras experiencias, reflexiones, y juicios más profundos. La fe existe en cualquier persona que ha descubierto que Dios existe. La fe se hace algo “personal” cuando la experiencia de que Dios existe se hace una experiencia que Dios ama, que Dios ama a mi, que Dios está amándome ahora mismo. Si esta se hace nuestra experiencia de Dios, nuestra vida de fe es menos una vida según mis creencias y más una vida inspirada por amor. El amor de Dios nos anima y guía, y nuestra vida tiene ahora el propósito de devolver este amor.
