A Thought for the Day/Mensaje del dia People thrive on the support of others, and the more the better. But the support we need is best measured in terms of “personal” support—the support of people whom we know, with whom we share our lives, who know how hard we’re trying… people we admire, who admire us for us, in a whole-hearted way, and have dedicated at least a part of their lives to supporting us. Since they will need something similar from us, this is something we can receive only from a few. Nonetheless, it is the best the world can do in terms of support. Such support is worth much more than the distant, “soft” support that some people receive from various forms of fame. How many people can hold your hand? Buscamos el apoyo de los demás, y lo más lo mejor. Pero el apoyo que necesitamos de veras se mide mejor en términos apoyo “personal”—el apoyo de personas que de veras conocemos, con quien compartimos nuestras vidas, quienes conocen nuestras luchas… personas que nosotros admiramos, que nos admiran a nosotros, grandemente y constantemente, y han dedicado al menos una porción de sus vidas para apoyarnos. Ya que necesitarán algo similar de nosotros, este es un apoyo que podemos recibir de pocas personas. Pero este apoyo vale mucho más que un apoyo “pasajero” que unos reciben de la fama en sus varias formas. ¿Cuántas personas pueden tomarte de la mano?
