A Tribute to our Colleague and Friend, Dr. Thomas Scotland Alias” Shad or Scotty” It is an honor to write this tribute to the Late Dr.Thomas Scotland—a friend, colleague, In whatever role we knew him, from whatever vantage point, he stood apart as someone special! I first met Thomas just as he was beginning his schooling at St. Mary High School His special leadership abilities and charismatic personalities were readily apparent! It was clear that he would most likely have an outstanding career as an Medical Doctor. This first encounter marked the beginning of our longstanding friendship and scholarly collaboration. Thomas was committed to studying. He was passionate about enabling his friends to focus hard on their studies. He was a transformational leader and change agent who had great dreams of what public Education could be. He had a gift of innovative thinking, a visionary spirit, and the Tenacious patience required to successfully lead meaningful reforms. Having Observed those qualities in Thomas, he was deeply love and respected by all. Thomas--a caring and beloved family man, a cherished colleague, a scholar and friend-- will be missed by many, but never will he be forgotten by those who were fortunate enough to have known him!
