A bad blow: A week or so ago a young woman speeding around a blind curve in a shopping center hit my car. Big damage to her car, not so much to mine. She twice admitted to me at the scene that she was speeding, then lied to my insurance company, claiming she was going the speed limit and I pulled out in front of her. In fact, there was no car in sight when I pulled away from the stop sign. Monday I found out my insurance company decided to believe her. I have a written account of the accident and photographs to illustrate the blind curve and how it was her speed that caused it, but my insurance company isnt interested in seeing them. Ive told three friends about this and they all responded with stories about how they were similarly betrayed by their insurance companies. One said, Its all about avoiding the costs of going to court. If they have to sell you out to do that, they will. You think theyre on your side because you pay them premiums. No. Theyre on their side. Life goes on.
