A bit corny if you ask me, but there are some great points made here. I would go much further to argue that Christiandom has been the the life-blood of science, civilization, and academia in general over the past 2000 year---the light of the world. Its the single most integral institution with respect to the discovery and dissemination of knowledge in history. The history of the West is the history of the Church. Western culture owes its origins in Christian culture. And you better believe that the advents in western science also owe their vitality to the church which has erected more universities and funded more research than than any other institution. Take a look at this list of the greatest scientific minds in history. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Christian_thinkers_in_science Notice the very not empty gap in science in the Christian world during the dark ages. lol. Dont be too shocked. Secularism has been trying to choke the church away from academia for the past couple hundred years.
