He read books about carrot astronauts, he built shoebox dioramas of carrot astronauts going into space, he made a big construction paper collage of the first carrot astronaut on the moon. He got older, and he went to college and studied carrot astronautics. Then he graduated college, and after a year working at his fathers law firm, he finally applied to be a carrot astronaut. It was then he found out that there was no such thing as a carrot astronaut, he had imagined the whole thing. And he was very, very happy to have believed in such a strange and beautiful dream, and he vowed one day he would tell his children, when he had some, that they, too, could grow up to be carrot astronauts.
