A colleague of mine visited me in my office this morning to tell me what a difficult time he had getting to work today because his shoe laces were acting up. He then proceeded to take the laces out of his boots and re-lace them right there in my office. He then walked off content in his nicely laced boots. Later, this inspired me to inspect my own shoe laces, as I’ve never been happy about their configuration and they frequently become loose or tangled. I honestly never considered ripping out the laces and redoing them to my own standards. Three years I’ve owned these shoes and not once did I take control of the situation and re-lace them properly. Well, today that all changed, as I re-laced them and now I walk around brimming with self-assuredness.
