A country where the state government steals my photograph and pays no heed, the central government tries to impose Hindi. A place where standing up vocally against a government invites fear and social isolation. I am not sure as a Bengali from Kolkata, how independent I am. I can not wear a smile, be all hypocritical about it and say Happy Independence Day. We shall be independent, when the upper social strata respects the lower, every one around is educated. Where there shall be no fear. As a Bengali, I can speak in Bengali anywhere in my place or English to communicate otherwise. We shall be independent, when ideas are trusted and not the person who endorses it.
