A curious incident occurred this morning, in my kitchen, when I was confronted by a rather menacing-looking spider. My initial reaction was one of abhorrence and I admit to reacting with hostile panic: raising an old cloth with the intent of smashing the life out of this fearsome, yet delicate, little creature. What happened next surprised me. My 2 eyes met with the spider’s many and we connected. I admit to having no knowledge of the thought processes of this near-perfect predator but I swear, for one brief moment, we understood each other. We understood the tragedy of us both being not particularly relevant in the greater scheme of things, how we both struggle for quality of life in this sprawling cosmos, yet a complete and utter moron like William Hague is afforded a platform to prosper and speak on behalf of an entire nation. Our moment passed and we went our separate ways. I have no idea what fate befell my arachnid adversary but I know we will both struggle on in life, while the idiots of the world proclaim themselves leaders of men.
