A day Ill never forget - Summitted Mabishan Shan, Taiwans furthest mountain at 2.05pm on Dec 3rd and broke into tears, jubilant after struggling for 8 hours to find and get on the difficult trail, covered by snow, ice and thick vegetation. Few hikers venture here and I was alone with the next nearest person and civilisation 2 days away. Phone spoils. 6 hours to return with 3 hours of sunlight. Acute bronchitis developing quickly and rain, ice and snow again. I kept praying and hiked hard to get back. I made it back at 7.15pm to an empty Nanhu Cabin with the help of my GPS watch, map, headlamp and God hiking 2 hours in poor visibility and pitch black darkness. It rained heavily for the next 36 hours with strong winds as my bronchitis and flu got worse and I never met anyone for the next 2 days. Decided to give Jhongyangjian a miss with the bad weather and failing health..The mountain will always be there. Happy to be alive and back! God is Great.
