A few insights.... Every rally we all learn something; Id like to see Kristy break loose on the next rally. I like the team KB & FFK however its the personal challenge of being alone and making sure your ride is as clean as possible, (especially against Kelsey, FFK, Shaun, Jeremy A, Bubba.... you get the idea) Regardless of what Derek T says, he has become a real contender as well while logging well over 100k miles since the AMR in 2012. Im not discounting anyone because its always anyones ride. In my opinion, when he trains and has his mind at 100% FFK will ALWAYS be difficult to beat, but we have seen it done. Frank said at least 3 times to me today that Kristy is a tough rider. This woman trains for survival, to live in this jungle and has adapted safety as a long distance rider. You just dont see this to much in motorcycling. Beth Penny has history and much respect from all her LD peers and so does Kristy Boyles. Id like to see both these women compete in August. I need to get Las Vegas involved with us. Anyone have any contacts? :-) This organization is like betting on horses, but 1000% more entertaining. I get frustrated, excited and thrilled at EVERY rally. Nancy and I have a ton of work in each one and I have incredible ideas to take it to the next level, but we need more riders. The riders that we refer to as Legends Riders are the core riders and are damn good friends to us. This was Greg Hofers 3rd event. He never seems excited as its not his disposition, however damn near every time I speak with him during the Rally, I hear it..... The excitement of riding and competing, he feels the warmth from his team, loved ones and from Nancy and I as we watch and manage the event by calling him with check-ups. Sometimes we dont reach everyone because of cell service or they are speaking to their Navigators or others :-) But we are here, ALWAYS. There was one single time that I can think of last year that Billy attempted to reach me and although it was not an emergency it resonates with me that I had been up for 30hrs as well and had drifted asleep. Its still no excuse. I want us there for everyone 24hrs :-) For Nancy & I that dependability is family oriented and thats what we consider all of the Legends riders. This is OUR rally, meaning that we listen to suggestions and push ourselves for successful events. What is a successful event? 1st off, no injuries! Next is that we had the event, scored it and paid out the winnings all in a matter of hours :-) Heres the best part, when Nancy and I see everyone arriving at the finish and the smiles and stories start flying! Even our girls are watching and talk about it afterwards :-) Jeremy A. called me last night and expressed how much he wished he was competing, but in the same breath thanked me. At his first event he was a little quiet just feeling everything out as Bubba had brought him and some other fine riders from Louisiana. But, Jeremy realized he was a bit out of shape after the first event. He rode with us on several events and even the toughest event last year at SMHD where there was 7 miles of hikes (lesson learned :-P). Since then he has lost 65lbs and as if he couldnt get anymore handsome, he did (per Nancy NOT me!) HA! He damn near placed at the SMHA event as well with his beautiful wife/navigator Jessi guiding him. That event was great because we all got even closer with many of the riders family hanging out with us (like in the hotel lobby if yall remember :-)) Dereks super cool wife Clair, Jessi, Sister Jenn for Kelsey, Stacy H for Greg, Candy Hoffman all come to mind and made it that much more fun for Nancy, our girls and myself. IM CALLING A FEW RIDERS OUT! We have decided to have only one more event for 2014. It is in August at Smoky Mountain Harley Davidson in Maryville. As much as Id love to have a 43hr ride versus the normal to challenge and push you to the next level, I will make it the normal format. Im asking for feedback from you as it pertains to the entry fee and start/finish times. Id like to see every Legends rider compete for this event. SMHD is hosting and very involved. Lets work out what issues you may have to get you there. For one last event for 2014, we would like to see; Dan Buis Roger Buis Derek T Kelsey FFK Shaun V Jeremy Bubba Robert Billy Kristy Kenny Gabriel Rude Jeff Mitchell A Beth P Bodhi Mike Fox Rob C Kevin M (Milkbone!) Rob N (eh?) 38 riders! Im challenging every one of you to make this event. STOP with the excuses, you KNOW this would be borderline epic regardless of entry fee. Id like you to contact me asap if we can assist in working out any details. One last event! Great party afterwards! Im working closely with SMHD as well.
