A few shots of the British tunnels at Fort Siloso, Sentosa, back - TopicsExpress

A few shots of the British tunnels at Fort Siloso, Sentosa, back in the early 80s. Before they were turned into tourist attractions. They were quite dangerous to explore as a few of them had collapsed. We would find all sorts of old British Army trinkets, along with blown up WWII radios, Tiger Beer cans, Old Badges and loads of old signs. In one of the tunnels, we had to climb down a 50 ft vertical shaft and then drop down 6 odd feet to the ground below where we found an old dog skeleton and more of signage. I later went back with an old WWII metal detector I bought at thieves market and dug up about a dozen shells from the big cannons which I had to call the Singapore Bomb disposal to clear as a few of them had detonator heads on them (approx 40cm long x 12-15cm width). This should be recorded with the Sentosa Park Rangers who we reported it to. We then waited for them to arrive in their green Landrovers with red stripes and watched them seal off the whole hill to clear the ordinance, really nice guys, doing a dangerous job.
